CrossFit appeals to the analytical side of my brain. Every workout can be quantified by time, number of repetitions or amount of weight; so every day brings the opportunity to achieve a new personal best and a sense of accomplishment. I started doing CrossFit in January 2010 and earned a Level 1 certification in August 2010. As a CrossFit trainer, I enjoy working with athletes to help them learn new skills, improve form and provide motivation. I believe in the sport and am proud of the athletes that I train.

I’ve been an athlete since my early teens and have been an avid runner for more than 20 years. In addition to numerous road and trail races, I have run seven marathons, including Boston, and was a pacer for the Leadville 100. I also enjoy hiking, soccer, cross country skiing, snow boarding and yoga.

Bethanie finished 1st in Utah in the 2017 CrossFit Open in her division, 7th in the Southwest region, and in the top 200 worldwide.

Dave was quickly drawn in to the CrossFit concept of life-long fitness in an efficient, competitive, and fun program. As a long-time multi-sport endurance athlete, staying in shape has been an integral part of Dave’s life. He is 45 years old and getting younger every day. In addition to high-school football, track, and cross-country, he ran and was captain of his NCAA Division 1 Cross-country team at Stetson University in Deland, FL. He studied computer science and graduated with his BA in 1995.

Dave is a level 2 CrossFit instructor, co-owner, and fills in as a coach as needed. He has been enjoying CrossFit Sandy since early 2010. He is also currently a principal software engineer and manager at Motorola Solutions. Dave met Bethanie in 2001 when they were training for their first marathon through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. Through that program they ran the Chicago Marathon where they both qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon. Bethanie has been keeping Dave on his toes ever since with her infectious enthusiasm for fitness, passion for CrossFit, and pursuit for excellence.

I am 42 years old, married 18 years to my best friend, Russ, and have two pretty fabulous kids. My
oldest is Aidan and my “baby” Grace. I have been involved in CrossFit now for many years
and certified in January 2013. I worked as a certified personal trainer for 2 years and also taught a
Bootcamp for another 2 years. Although I have been athletic most of my life, I had never been truly fit
until I found CrossFit. I have always been a runner first and have completed 4 marathons, 10 or so half
marathons, The Spartan Beast, a couple of triathlons and relay races. I look forward to the challenges
that CrossFit has to offer me every single day and always strive to be the best athlete and coach I can
possibly be. No limits!
