Today we’re profiling one of our long-time morning warriors – Nacho from Ignacio!
Nacho is 18 years old (or at least that is what he claimed when asked) and started CrossFit here at CrossFit Sandy in March of 2013. That means he has been with us since he was 15?
Aside from lifting the biggest atlas stone we have in the picture, his CrossFit super power is the ability to make people laugh – another great reason to pop in for one of our early morning classes.
In Nacho’s own words:
“The Snatch is my favorite movement. It requires a lot of skill and practice to get the bar smoothly and efficiently overhead. It is an amazing feeling when everything goes well. It’s nice to hear from John after 50 attempts ; ‘Nacho you are finally snatching!!!!’ Soon I’m going back to John’s Olympic weightlifting class.
I don’t have a least favorite movement. My goal is to be able to do all the different exercises and avoid little breaks during the WOD’s while always having fun!!! CrossFit trains your mind to be in the zone on every exercise. You also need to stay focused to avoid injury.
My biggest accomplishment is that Crossfit taught me to have fun while working out!”
What is your favorite Hero WOD?
Murph , 100 pull ups yeah !!!
I can’t wait to do it again this year.

Do you have any pieces of wisdom for new members?
First impression – you see some athletes doing double unders , pulls ups , push ups, etc. I was shocked, intimidated and I said to my self … “What am I doing here? There is no way that I will be able to do that. Those athletes are machines!!!”
Well… commitment and consistency are some of my greatest virtues. Week after week you realize that you can do anything you want, any exercise, any WOD . Everything is 100% on you and you can apply it to many aspects of your life. Limitations are based on the power that we give to our fears .
Compete with yourself. Try to do a little better each time. Some days are not going to go as expected, but those days give you the motivation to do better next time . We can do it!!!
For the first 6 months of CrossFit, I hurt everyday. Use the foam rollers daily.
Set your goal, visualize it and don’t stop until you get it.
Your mind is going to give you 1000 excuses not to reach it. It is your heart that makes you come to the box everyday and allows you to accomplish anything you want.
What sports or activities do you participate in outside the box?
The Park City Resort ski racing team keeps Nacho busy during the winter.
When I go back to Spain, I enjoy boogie boarding and hiking.
All the Utah outdoor activities are amazing!
CrossFit has helped me to improve my balance, strength, coordination, speed, agility and power – as a result I have become better at all those activities.
I want to thank all the coaches and members of CrossFit Sandy for the motivation and support that helps me push through the work out and not quit. It creates a great energy during the WOD. You see everybody doing their best and each one of them inspire me.
