What is the Open?

The Games season is broken up into three stages. The first stage is the Open. This five-week, five-workout competition is held February 26 – March 30. Workouts are released online each Thursday, and athletes have until the following Monday to do the workout and submit their scores online. Anyone who’s at least 14 years old can and join in the first stage of the CrossFit Games season.

The CrossFit Open is designed to test your fitness and let see how you compare to other CrossFit athletes around the world. In 2014 more than 209,00 athletes participated in the Open.

Masters Division

Athletes who are 40 or older are automatically entered into one of five age divisions: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+.

Teenage Division

Athletes who are 14 to 17 years old will find out where they stand in relation to other athletes their age. The Teenage Division will have two sub-groups: 14-15 and 16-17.

A scaled option of the Open workout will be released each week of the Open. With reduced loading or less challenging movements, the scaled option will be designed to make the Open even more accessible.

The Open is for everyone! Sign up today and be part of the CrossFit Sandy team.
